Smart related post hack for blogspot blog

You might have seen common related posts for your Blogspot blog(like this). They are all javascript driven widget. The Related Post widget in my blog (see at the bottom of the post) is smarter than other related posts widget that people offers.

Why did I called it smart? Because this widget will list the top related 5(or more) posts sorted by relevancy!
Top relevant posts are the posts that have more tags in common with the current post. This widget also works as a Recent Posts widget when there are not contents to fetch out, for example in your home page. Not only this it can also show related links from other blogs that you specify.

To show related posts in your blog, copy and paste the codes below anywhere you like. Probably it may be after the code: <data:post.body/> . Or you can add it on your side bar as a HTML/JAVASCRIPT widget.

This widget uses jQuery v1.3.2, If you already included jQuery into your blog then no need to do it again. Therefore you can remove the code highlighted in Pink.
You can have your own modification in the related posts. Those values that are in red can be modified according to your need. The code highlighted in blue shows the title as your Recent Posts when there are no tags found, i.e. in your home page, if you are using sidebar widget. In blogURL you can put your other blog where the script my find other relevant posts. Fill this field only if you want the links from other blog to be listed, else keep it blank.

If you are not satisfied with the style of this widget and want little more customization then you can have your own CSS code in the Format below:

Table Of Contents Widget For Blogger

You might have noticed the new Table Of Contents Section On this Blog.. It uses the Selective Widget Display.. This widget requires Javascript ans hence it will take time to load.. So we will be modding it so that it will be displayed on a particular Page only..

Here is the Step by Step Tutorial

1.Make a new Blank Post in Blogger With Title "Table Of Contents" (or whatever you like)

2.Before publishing this post,make sure that you set the publishing date to an old one so that this post wont appear in your blog feed..You can Do it From Post Options in the Post Editor.. Also Don't allow comments on this post

3.Now we have created a new post page where the Table Of Contents will be displayed

5 Steps to Increase your Google Page Rank

Google Page rank is based on back links. Back links are Links pointing to your website from another website. The more back links you have the higher your PR will be.

1. Join forums, forums are a great way to achieve links to your website. In most forums you are allowed to have a signature and in your signature you can put a link to your website. But another important note to look on is making sure the forum is somewhat related to your website. You will still get credit if it's not, but if it's related to your website than you will be accomplishing two tasks at once.
You will be advertising for your website (bringing in targeted traffic) You will also be building your websites presence.

Your websites presence is very important to your survival. The more people see, or hear about your website the more credibility you will have and this increases your chances of having these visitors come back and possibly become leads.

2. Submit to search engine directories. Search engine directories are a good way to get a free link to your website. They also increase your chances at being listed higher on popular search engines like Google, and overture.

Most search engine directories allow you to submit to their website for free. This will allow you to increase your web presence by being listed on another search engine, and it will also be a free link. Remember the more links you have the higher your PR will be.

3. Using ezine ads (or newsletters). Creating an ezine will probably be the most beneficial step you can take to increasing your web presence. When you create an ezine you will be able to keep visitors coming back to your website for more by using signatures and giving special deals.

Ezine's will also allow you to increase your back links. By creating an ezine you can submit your information about your ezine to an ezine directory. This directory will than link to your website(thus giving you a free link).

4. Creating and publishing articles. Articles are an easy source of generating new traffic. You can include your signature in your article. This will bring in more traffic from article submission directories.
Your signature usually consists of 4 to 8 lines. Usually the first line would be the title of the website that you are trying to advertise. The last line would be the link to the website and the lines in between these would be a sales pitch to draw your viewers into your website.

5. Links from related websites. Gaining links from related websites can be one of the most frustrating tasks you can attempt.

They are very easy to find, but can be somewhat difficult to obtain links from.
To find related websites, all you have to do is go to a search engine... say Google... and type in your subject. Maybe your website is based on ford mustangs.

You go to Google and type in ford mustangs, than you look around for pages that are somewhat related to your website. After you have done this (which should be very easy) you have to contact them in some way to get your link posted on their website. This can be the most difficult task because a lot of webmasters ignore e-mail's from people requesting links because they don't see the importance of it at the time. Some other reasons could be that they are rarely online, or they delete spam mail and sometimes delete their important emails in the process.

Important note: When looking for link partners don't just link with websites that have a page rank of 4 or higher. Link with anyone and everyone you get a chance to. If you link to someone that has a page rank of zero, this will not hurt your page rank. It will only increase it because you are getting a link back to your website. Google doesn't look at your back links page ranks to determine what yours is going to be. It simply looks at how many back links you have.

So if Google one day decided to link to a website that was just created and this website has a page rank of 0 and has a domain that goes something like this: mywebsite.geocities.com it's page rank wouldn't increase even though Google's page rank is 10, it's rank would still be zero because it would only have that one back link.

8. Now you have got direct link to that image. Replace your old background URL (which you have done in step 4) with new one (containing in imageshack).

How to remove .blogspot.com from the blog address

I have recently done this so thought of sharing this with you all.

This is very very simple and can be done with in a day. I will explain step by step

1. Lets say you have have a blog names xyz.blogspot.com and you want it to be http://www.xyz.com
2. First thing to do is to register a domain http://www.xyz.com with any webhosting company. There are thousands available online.
3. Very important thing. Register the domain with the provider who gives the domain forwarding facility free. There are many of them who are doing this.
4. Once the domain is registerd just login in your control panel (this will be provided by the company through whom you have registerd the domain).
5. Go to domain forwarding settings and put your blog address xyz.blogspot.com there.
6. Activate URL Masking. (this is very important)
7. Now what happens is when someone puts http://www.xyz.com in browser the domain forwading settings will forward the requestion xyz.blogspot.com
8. Now URL Masking comes in the picture as when user reaches to your blog xyz.blogspot.com he wont see this address in the browser. instead he will see http://www.xyz.com bcoz of the url masking feature.
9. one live example is my blog boozegyaan.blogspot.com for which i have registerd the domain http://www.boozegyaan.com
10. when someone types http://www.boozegyaan.com he reaches to my blog boozegyaan.blogspot.com but he see http://www.boozegyaan.com in the address bar.

Step 1: Visit Yahoo Site Explorer and sign in with your existing yahoo account.

1.First, go to Zoho Creator

2.Log on with your account or you can also use your Yahoo or Google account to login. Just click the yahoo or google logo as shown in above figure.

3.Click Create New Application.

4.Type your text Contact Me and click Create Now.

5.Drag Singal Line widget from left sidebar to middle of your page.Drag and drop E-mail, URL and Multi Line to middle of the page. As well as you can use different kind of fields.

Give name for them. In Singal Line, E-mail and Muti Line don't forget the check This is required field. Look at the below screen shot.

6.And as you have finished that click Access This Application on the top of the page.

7.New page appears, now click More Action and then Embed In Your Website.

Now you have to copy that code to embed in your blog. Before that Click Customize Form Properties & Look and Feel , customize Form Properties as your needs.

How to Unblock a Downloaded ZIP File

This tutorial addresses a problem that vista has with ZIP files that come from websites such as this one. Often, all EXE hacks will be deleted upon extraction.

To prevent this, do the following:

First locate your downloads directory like so:

Explore it like so:

Find the ZIP you downloaded, and then right click. Scroll down and find properties.

Now presented with this window, uncheck read only, if it is checked:

Finally, click the unblock button to the right, and then click Apply after you have unblocked it.

Close the properties window by pressing Ok.

Now, by extracting the ZIP file as normal, Windows Vista/7 will no longer want to block the files inside, allowing you to use any .exe hack you download.

How to keep your computer updated at all times

If you don't have your computer updated for your drivers and your programs your computer is at high risk of getting viruses and you will not be getting the best performance.

Search for "Windows Update" without the quotations.

Now you will see something like this many things to do if you never saw this before or never changed the default options.

First Click Change Settings and copy all these setting that's on yours.

Click OK then Click Allow (vista) when it promotes you to.

Now Click check for updates and install Any and Every update available

And that's it for most updates now if you have a dell or hp system or basically any system search for your products update. Since i have a Hp Laptop i will search for Hp Updates and i will double click on the program and click update and install any updates. If you have any protection software make sure that is also set to automatic updates.

If you follow these instructions you will find your computer running much smoother and you will be more secure and your performance will be greatly higher.

Some Ways to Clean up your computer

Before i did all this stuff i only had 30GB free on my computer but now i got 100GB - 90GB free and yes really :)

I know this works for windows vista it may be a bit different windows xp.

First Click the Orb in the left corner that shows the vista logo , now click computer. (for xp go to my computer)

You will see Something like this -

Now you would want to left click your local disk (c) in my case its called Dave (c) and select properties.

Now you should see something like this -

Click Disk Clean Up and select files for all users on this computer.

That should take a few moments when its done scanning you will see something like this.

Tick (select) all of the options to this is important. When you ticked all of them go to the more options tab and you will see 2 clean up tabs.

Click Both Clean ups the first one will tell you to uni stall some programs you don't use so please do so , uninstall anything you don't need or never use. The Second one will tell you to Clean all System restore points except the most recent , this will clean lots of memory so please do so. Now it will be clean them up now when its done click "OKAY" now you will see it deleting the files we selected earlier please note its not deleting personal files just some trash you don't use.

Okay now to back to the properties in your local (c) disk click tools and then defrage now after thats done "Check now" for volume errors" when thats done go back to general and click index this for faster searching and compress this drive. That will take a few hours to clean up but it is VERY worth it you will get more then half of your space back in your computer.

Encrypting your files on your computer can be very useful in protecting them from nosy family members and hackers who have remote admin access. So I'm going to show you how to encrypt your files in a simple and easy to follow way. This is for Mac computers I will be uploading a window's tutorial soon.

Encrypting your Files

Now we are going to use Disk Utility to make create an an Encrypted disk image. Open up Disk Utility, go to the File menu>choose New> Blank Disk Image. Click AES-128 encryption and cd disk image option.

Then its going to ask you to input your passworrd. Use something fairly hard to guess but memorable.

There! Now every time someone choose the file you encrypted it prompts them for a password.

Disabling the User Account Control (UAC) on Vista and 7

How can I disable the User Account Control (UAC) feature on my Windows Vista computer?

Windows Vista has the built-in ability to automatically reduce the potential of security breaches in the system. It does that by automatically enabling a feature called User Account Control (or UAC for short). The UAC forces users that are part of the local administrators group to run like they were regular users with no administrative privileges.

Method #1 - Using MSCONFIG

1.Launch MSCONFIG by from the Run menu.
2. Click on the Tools tab. Scroll down till you find "Disable UAC" . Click on that line.

3.Press the Launch button
4.A CMD window will open. When the command is done, you can close the window.
5.Close MSCONFIG. You need to reboot the computer for changes to apply.

Method #2 - Using Control Panel

1.Open Control Panel.

2.Under User Account and Family settings click on the "Add or remove user account".

3.Click on one of the user accounts, for example you can use the Guest account

4.Under the user account click on the "Go to the main User Account page" link.

5.Under "Make changes to your user account" click on the "Change security settings" link.

6.In the "Turn on User Account Control (UAC) to make your computer more secure" click to unselect the "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer". Click on the Ok button.

7.You will be prompted to reboot your computer. Do so when ready.

In order to re-enable UAC just select the above checkbox and reboot.

Ping is the term used to find out the amount of time it takes a packet to go to a remote computer and back. The following tutorials will show you how. This is useful, for example, to check if a site is down.

First, go to the start menu and click Run, or if you have vista, type it in the search box and press enter:

Type "ping", a space, and then the IP to ping to. 127.0.0.1 represents a local ping (to yourself):
After a few seconds there should bea few new lines, like this. You can use the "exit" command to close the command windows.

That concludes the tutorial. Pinging can be used to also trigger nasty tricks. In the past, in the days of windows 95, Ping had the infinite argument which could be used to crash a server. Nowadays that glitch has been fixed.

How to trace the IP of a Website?

This is a new-friendly tutorial on how to trace the Internet Protocol (ip) of a website.

This requires no downloads, or knowledge other than typing and reading.

1. Press Start, Located at the Bottom Left Corner.

2. Select Run

3. Type in "cmd"

4. Type in "tracert [Insert Website]" I used Google

5. Wait a few seconds, or the process to complete.

6. Look at the last result, and at the end of the last result, there will be [Ip Address Here]

7. If you did it right, you'll have the IP Address!

If you got 208.67.217.230 with Google, you got it right!

How to change your computer's ip address

OK my friend and i were just fooling around im not sure if it works.

Steps

1. Run CMD
2. type in ipconfig /release hit enter
3. close cmd screen
4. Right-click on Network Places on your desktop.
5. go o properties
6. you should be at like * "Local Area Connection" or something
7. Right click Local Area Connectionand then go to properties
8. Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) click on this its under the general tab
9. Use the following IP address under the "General" tab
10. Create an IP address (It doesn't matter what it is.)
11. Press "Tab" and it should automatically fill in the "Subnet Mask"
12. click ok 2 times

You should now be back to the "Local Area Connection"
13. Right-click back on Local Area Connection and go to properties again.
14. Go back to the "TCP/IP" settings
15. This time, select "Obtain an IP address automatically"

16. Hit "Ok" again
17. You now have a new IP address

How to Hack A Flash Game!!

For any want-to-be Coder, hacking Flash Games is a good place to start.
Whether it be a Speedhack, or getting infinite life, it will probably be able to get you there.

1. Download Cheat Engine
Cheat Engine will allow you to find values and change them, which will be explained later
The current version is 5.5, so download that.

2. Find a flash game you want to hack.
For today, I'm going to hack a favorite of mine, Endless Zombie Rampage

3. Start the game.
Now, it's recommended to pause the game, for a bit.
Most Flash Games will have a pause button on the "P" key, so press that and the game will mostlikely pause.

4. Open up Cheat Engine.
If you want to follow their tutorial, go ahead.
If you just want to continue, find the Computer Icon at the Top Left Corner.
It will be flashing green and red repeatedly.

5. Select the Process.
Now, to select the thing you want to hack, you have to select the process.
That's just a fancy name for program.
Scroll down, and you'll probably find your browser.
For Internet Explorer, it'll be something like iexplorer.exe
For Firefox, it'll be something like firefox.exe
I currently do not know the process name for Google Chrome or Safari, but just remember that the process name is similar to the browser name.

6. Once you've done that, go back to the game, we'll start with an unlimited ammo hack.
Look at the amount of ammo you currently have.
For Endless Zombie Rampage, you will start with 10 Ammo.
For flash games, all the values (10 in this example) must be multiplied by 8.
If the Value is large (Like 35273) feel free to use a calculator, built into the computer.

7. Search for your value.
For us, it'll be "80"

8. Most likely, a BUNCH of values will pop up, and changing all of them is annoying, and dangerous.

9. Unpause the game, and fire one bullet.
That will change the value to "72"

10. Enter "72" as the value and press "Next Scan"
That will search for a value of 72, within the values you already got.

11. If you end up with less than 20 values, double click all of them.

12. That will bring it to the bottom section.
Now click on the value of each one, and set it to a value you want.
For example, I'll choose "7200" for each one, and the gun will have 900 Bullets.

13. Freezing
You might also notice the 'Freeze Value" button.
What that does is "freeze" the value, meaning it can't change until you unfreeze it.
That can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your situation.
If I froze the values at 7200, the gun will have 900 Bullets, and will never turn to 899, or 901, even if I fired or reloaded.

14. Enjoy your hacks!
For other things like health, do the exact same things as I showed you.
Like, Record Health once, get hit, search for the next value.

A free anonymous web proxy site allows any web browser to access other third-party websites by channeling the browser’s connection through the proxy. The web proxy basically acts as a middleman between your web browser and the third-party website you are visiting. Why would you want to do this? There are two common reasons:

You’re connecting to a public network at a coffee shop or internet café and you want privacy while you browse the web. You don’t want the admin to know every site you visit.
You want to bypass a web content filter or perhaps a server-side ban on your IP address. Content filtering is common practice on college campus networks. This trick will usually bypass those restrictions.

Bypassing Megaupload

Get Firefox, and a download manager first.

1. At the address bar of Firefox, type in "about:config"
Just click the "ok" button there

2. Type in "general.useragent.extra.firefox" at the search box there.

3. Under "Firefox/3.5.2", double click on it, and change it so that it reads "Firefox/3.5.2 MEGAUPLAD 1.0"

4. This will trick the website into thinking that you have installed the megaupload toolbar, and you will be given priority for your downloads
(DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT IT IS HIGHLY SUSECPTABLE TO SPYWARE)

5. After filling in the captcha ( the box with the weird looking code in it), Wait for the countdown. When the "regular download" is available, right click on it and select your download manager from the list. (For me it would be "download by Orbit 'cos I use Orbit download Manager)

6. At first the download may not start, but just be patient and wait for 1~5mins, and the download will start!

7. If nothing happens after 10mins or so, just repeat step 5 again until it works.

3. Sometimes putting in the download provider helps narrow down your search - ( rapidshare is known to be really useless unless you have a premium account or something) Although rapidshare is a really bad download provider, many people still upload stuff on them.

4. Of course for music usually I use either

2. Add in a "4shared" at the back. 4shared.com is FULLL of free .mp3s

5. Megaupload may seem like another rapidshare clone, but there's a way to bypass their "download limit". Just use Firefox!

Everyone knows that Google is better than Microsoft. What has Google given us? The best search engine ever. What has Microsoft given us? Windows Vista and internet explorer- the worst programs ever. I will be giving you some great tips you can use when searching for stuff on Google.

Many people already know this as it is one of the most basic search "trick".

Whenever you want to search something, 50% of the results are crap. You want to narrow that down by specifying what exactly you want.

By adding a "." infront of and behind a phrase, Google will search for articles that contain the phrase in that order.

E.g. Searching [Cheese Pie] will come up with pages that contain the words "cheese" and "pie", regardless of where they appear. (there was this one page about "apple pie with cheese"- Totally not related to cheesepies.)
Compared to that, searching "cheese pie" will come up with pages that contain the phrase "cheese pie" in that particular order, with those two words right beside each other, not seperated.
(No more apple pies with CHEESE!)

Saving network bandwidth is important for those users who are subscribed to a data plan that gives them a certain amount of Gigabytes per month that they can transfer freely. If they reach the limit they either have to pay for additional data transfers or live with reduced connection speeds which are both unpleasant side effects. Another possibility would be specialized services where the user has to pay for every data transfer right from the beginning.
The rise of mobile phones, netbooks and other mobile devices pushed the need for data compression tools that reduce the actual size of a data transfer.
Toonel (via Make Use Of) provides a solution both for desktop computer users as well as those that connect with a mobile device to the Internet. It features an impressive list of operating system it is compatible with including Windows, Linux, Macintosh, Windows Mobile and Symbian.
All versions basically function the same way. The traffic is routed through the Toonel servers which compress the communication with the user’s computer system. The list contained a lot of sites that allow users to upload free files to their website and share it with others. A negative aspect was that it only featured a few categories that were not that useful to find a host that suited special needs.

I decided to compile a new list with more information available at first glance. Information besides the site name consist of the following variables.

Keep safe Wireless Lan network

More and more users use wireless connections to connect to the Internet, many do receive a wireless lan router by default from their internet provider and forget to protect the router and the connection properly. Insecure Wireless routers are a main target not only of hackers but also of neighbours in the vicinity who like to waste your bandwidth instead of their own.

While it does not seem to be that bad that someone else would use your wireless internet connection for surfing the web it becomes a very important matter if this is abused. Someone could download warez, pornography, commit fraud, send thousands of emails or share software in p2p networks. You will be held responsible for abuse that is done with your connection.

You need to know the basic information about your wireless router before you can begin to protect it.

* Who is the manufacturer
* What is the name of the wireless router

Visit the manufacturers website and search for updates for your router. Updates are normally in the form of firmware updates which update the internal functions to a new version which could result in additional features and security. Please consult the website for instructions on how to update the firmware of your router.

Make sure you update it using a wired connection because wireless connection tend to become unstable in the wrong moments. (Murphy’s law)

It is now time to protect the router further. Connect to the interface which is normally done by opening the IP of the router. (default 192.168.1.1 most of the time) Enter username and password and change them when your are logged in. Many routers get hacked because the user did not change the default login data that ships with the routers. Everyone can look them up and it is really easy to access the router even though everything else might have been optimized for security.

Now it is time to configure the security settings of the w-lan router. Add a service set identifier (SSID), it does not really matter how you name it, just remember the name. Make sure you disable the SSID broadcasting afterwards, this ensure that your wireless router does not show the SSID and it is a little bit more difficulty to find it out.

I know that this is a weak security tip but it could mean that this in addition with other security measures poses a problem for so called script kiddies.

Enable the strongest encryption method available, this is normally WPA2 with AES. If you have an older router or a device that does not support WPA2 you should think of buying a new router or updating the devices. Make sure you use a large string with numbers and letters. A good value would be between 20 and 30 chars for the key, make sure you remember it because you need to supply the key to the other devices that have to connect to the router.

Enable Mac filtering, look up your mac address by using the command line in Windows XP and typing ipconfig /all. The physical address is your mac address. This ensures that only computers with a Mac address that is listed in the router can connect to it. Please note that the Mac address can be faked.

If you do not need the full transmitter power because your router and computer are physically close to each other you could reduce the transmitter power to reduce the chance that someone from outside your walls will be able to find the router and connect to it. Please be aware that a good antenna on the device that wants to connect to your router is able to counter this strategy.

Here is a list of other ideas that are worth investigating.

* Disable all services that you do not need.
* It is a very good idea to power off the router when you do not need it to prevent anyone from connecting to it while you are away. Alternatively turn off the wireless function of the router.
* If you have the means monitor the traffic of your wireless connection to find out if someone else uses it as well.
* Enable the firewall of the router and configure it properly
* If the router has a logging feature enable it and analyze it regularly.
* Limit the maximum number of DHCP addresses if you use that feature.
* Use Authentication if possible.

Create keyboard shortcuts in ms word

Click the Tools menu and select Customize, and then click the keyboard button at the bottom of the dialog box. Find the function you want to create a shortcut for by choosing the appropriate category and command, and then specify a keystroke sequence for the shortcut. Be sure to select whether you want the shortcut to apply to all document or just the current document using the “save change in” drop-down box. Finally, click the Assign button, then close the window and return to the Word editing screen to test out your new shortcut! You can print out list of all the shortcut keys you’ve defined by opening the file menu and clicking Print, then choosing “Key assignments” from the “Print what” drop-down box.

Windows XP funny hidden tricks

There are many small tricks in Xp.Lets talk about some funny things:

"0" Blank File, and Clock AVI Fil

For Windows XP, If you look in your "My Computer\C:\WINDOWS\" In this folder, after all other folders, you find a text file named "0". If you open it, nothing will be in there, hence the filename "0".

Another thing would be a file called "Clock". It's an AVI file. It can open it in Windows Media Player. It's a very simple and plain animation.

These 2 files, were probably left in by the Microsoft Programmers as Easter-Eggs for anyone that could find them.

Con Folder
1. In any windows or dos try to make a folder named 'con'.
2. You will be presented by an error that it already exists, or other error preventing you creating this directory.

"Quotes" in windows XP

1.Go to your HOSTS file which is located at:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC for Vista and XP

2. Open HOSTS with Notepad.

3. Directly under the line that says 127.0.0.1 Localhost, you will want to type:

For example to block the website MySpace.com, simply type:

It is necessary to add a website with and without the “www.”. You can add any number of websites to this list.

Some people suggest that your add a website to the Internet Explorer ‘Privacy’ settings. This does not block a site. It only stops that site from using cookies.

How to change your IP adress within a minute

This article will help you to change your IP address within a minute. Just follow the following step and you will be thru.

1. Click on "Start" in the bottom left hand corner of screen
2. Click on "Run"
3. Type in "command" and hit ok

You should now be at an MSDOS prompt screen.

4. Type "ipconfig /release" just like that, and hit "enter"
5. Type "exit" and leave the prompt
6. Right-click on "Network Places" or "My Network Places" on your desktop.
7. Click on "properties"

You should now be on a screen with something titled "Local Area Connection", or something close to that, and, if you have a network hooked up, all of your other networks.

8. Right click on "Local Area Connection" and click "properties"
9. Double-click on the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" from the list under the "General" tab
10. Click on "Use the following IP address" under the "General" tab
11. Create an IP address (It doesn't matter what it is. I just type 1 and 2 until i fill the area up).
12. Press "Tab" and it should automatically fill in the "Subnet Mask" section with default numbers.
13. Hit the "Ok" button here
14. Hit the "Ok" button again

You should now be back to the "Local Area Connection" screen.

15. Right-click back on "Local Area Connection" and go to properties again.
16. Go back to the "TCP/IP" settings
17. This time, select "Obtain an IP address automatically"

20. You now have a new IP address

With a little practice, you can easily get this process down to 15 seconds.

While browsing around the menus in Office Word 2007, I stumbled upon the ‘Publish’ option, and I was thrilled! Well, it’s actually possible to publish to your WordPress blog from Microsoft Word 2007 itself. That is so cool! And it’s not just WordPress, supported platforms include Blogger, SharePoint, Windows Live Spaces, TypePad, etc.

Here’s a quick guide on how you can set up Microsoft Word 07 to publish posts to your blog:
•Start MS Word 2007, click on the Office Logo on the top left of the screen and select ‘New‘.
•Click ‘New Blog Post‘ and click ‘Create’.
•Click ‘Register Now‘ in the dialog that appears to get started.
•Choose your provider. I chose WordPress.
•Click ‘Next’ and type in your blog URL, username and password
•Click the button ‘Picture Options’ which is present in the bottom left of the dialog
•If you want to upload photos to your own FTP server, choose the option ‘My own Server‘
•In Upload URL, type in the FTP address of the location where the images should be uploaded
•In Source URL, type in the HTTP address of the location where the images are stored
•Press OK and when all’s well you’ll get a confirmation message telling the process was successful.
•You can now write blog posts in Word 2007 itself, specify categories and publish them using the button on the top left.

Some times it becomes necessary to change the ICON of an executable(.exe) file so that the exe file get’s a new appearence.Many of the Tools such as TuneUP Winstyler does this job by adjusting the Windows to display a custom icon to the user.But in reality when the file is carried to a different computer, then it shows it’s original ICON itself.This means that inorder to permanantly change the ICON, it is necessary to modify the executable file and embed the ICON inside the file itself.Now when this is done the exe file’s ICON is changed permanantly so that even if you take file to a different computer it show’s a new icon. For this purpose I have found a nice tool which modifies the exe file and will embed the ICON of your choice into the file itself. ie:The tool changes the exe ICON permanantly.
I’ll give you a step-by-step instruction on how to use this tool to change the icon.
1. Goto www.shelllabs.com and download the trial version of Icon Changer and install it (Works on both XP and Vista).
2. Right-click on the exe file whose ICON is to be changed.
3. Now you will see the option Change Icon…Click on that option.
4. Now the Icon Changer program will open up.
5. Icon changer will search for all the ICONS on your system so that you can select any one of those.
6. Now select the ICON of your choice and click on SET.
7. Now a popup window will appear and ask you to select from either of these two options.

Change embeded icon.
Adjust Windows to display custom icon.

Select the first option (Change embeded icon).
8. You are done.The ICON get’s changed.

Now, what do we do with this IP Address. Well first ping the IP Address to make sure that its alive. In otherwords online. Now at the bottom of this document ill include some links where you can obtain some key tools that may help on your journey through the electronic jungle. So we need to find places to get inside of the computer so we can start trying to find a way to "hack" the box. Port Scanners are used to identify the open ports on a machine thats running on a network, whether its a router, or a desktop computer, they will all have ports. Protocols use these ports to communicate with other services and resources on the network.

1) Blues Port Scanner - This program will scan the IP address that you chose and identify open ports that are on the target box.

In example 1 now we see that there are a variety of ports open on this box. Take note of all the ports that you see listed before you. Most of them will be paired up with the type of protocol that uses that port (IE. 80-HTTP 25-SMTP Etc Etc...) Simply take all that information and paste it into notepad or the editor of your choice. This is the beginning of your targets record. So now we know what ports are open. These are all theoretical points of entry where we could wiggle into the computer system. But we all know its not that easy. Alright so we don't even know what type of software or what operating system that this system is running.

2) NMAP - Port Scanner - Has unique OS fingerprinting methods so when the program sees a certain series of ports open it uses its best judgement to guess what operating system its running. Generally correct with my experiences.

So we have to figure out what type of software this box is running if we are gonna start hacking the thing right? Many of you have used TELNET for your MUDS and MOOS and weird multiplayer text dungeons and many of you havent even heard of it before period. TELNET is used to open a remote connection to an IP Address through a Port. So what that means is we are accessing their computer from across the internet, all we need is their IP Address and a port number. With that record you are starting to compile, open a TELNET connection to the IP Address and enter one of the OPEN ports that you found on the target.
So say we typed 'TELNET -o xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 25' This command will open up a connection through port 25 to the IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. Now you may see some text at the very top of the screen. You may think, well what the hell, how is that little string of text going to help me. Well get that list you are starting to write, and copy the banners into your compilation of the information youve gathered on your target. Banners/Headers are what you get when you TELNET to the open ports. Heres an example of a banner from port 25.

Now this is a very important part in the enumeration process. You notice it says 'Sendmail 8.12.8/8.12.8' Well what do ya know, we now have discovered a version number. This is where we can start identifying the programs running on the machine. There are some instances in which companies will try and falsify their headers/banners so hackers are unable to find out what programs are truly installed. Now just copy all the banners from all the open ports *Some Ports May Have No Bannners* and organize them in the little record we have of the target. Now we have all the open ports, and a list of the programs running and their version numbers. This is some of the most sensitive information you can come across in the networking world. Other points of interest may be the DNS server, that contains lots of information and if you are able to manipulate it than you can pretend to hotmail, and steal a bunch of peoples email. Well now back to the task at handu. Apart from actual company secrets and secret configurations of the network hardware, you got some good juicy info. http://www.securityfocus.com is a very good resource for looking up software vulnerabilities. If you cant find any vulnerabilities there, search on google. There are many, many, many other sites that post vulnerabilities that their groups find and their affiliates.

At SecurityFocus you can search through vendor and whatnot to try and find your peice of software, or you can use the search box. When i searched SecurityFocus i found a paper on how Sendmail 8.12.8 had a buffer overflow. There was proof of concept code where they wrote the shellcode and everything, so if you ran the code with the right syntax, a command prompt would just spawn. You should notice a (#) on the line where your code is being typed. That pound symbol means that the command prompt window thats currently open was opened as root. The highest privilage on a UNIX/Linux Box. You have just successfully hacked a box. Now that you have a command shell in front of you, you can start doing whatever you want, delete everything if you want to be a fucking jerk, however I dont recommend that. Maybe leave a text file saying how you did it and that they should patch their system.....whoever they are. And many times the best thing you can do is just lay in the shadows, dont let anyone know what you did. More often than not this is the path you are going to want to take to avoid unwanted visits by the authorities.

There are many types of exploits out there, some are Denial of Service exploits, where you shut down a box, or render an application/process unusable. Called denial of service simply because you are denying a service on someones box to everyone trying to access it. Buffer Overflow exploits are involved when a variable inside some code doesnt have any input validation. Each letter you enter in for the string variable will be 1 byte long. Now where the variables are located at when they are in use by a program is called the buffer. Now what do you think overflowing the buffer means. We overflow the buffer so we can get to a totally different memory address. Then people write whats called shellcode in hex. This shellcode is what returns that command prompt when you run the exploit. That wasnt the best description of a buffer overflow, however all you need to remember is that garbage data fills up the data registers so then the buffer overflows and allows for remote execution of almost every command available. There are many, many other types of attacks that cannot all be described here, like man-in-the-middle attacks where you spoof who you are. Performed correctly, the victim will enter http://www.bank.com and his connection will be redirected to your site where you can make a username and password box, make the site look legit. And your poor mark will enter their credentials into your site, when they think its really http://www.bank.com. You need to have a small script set up so it will automatiically display like an error or something once they try and log in with their credentials. This makes it seem like the site is down and the victim doenst give it a second thought and will simply try again later.

- Make a copy of some Proof-Of-Concept code for the vulnerability.

Getting Ip Address:-

To see the ip all computers you are connected to (web servers, people attempting to hack into your computer).
Go to dos (start>run>type command) and run the netstat command. Type netstat /? for details.
Type netstat -r at the command prompt to see the ip of all computers you are connected to

In MSN (and other programs) when you are chatting to someone everything you type goes through the MSN servers first (they act as a proxy) so you see their ip rather than who you are chatting to. You can get round this by sending them a file as MSN doesn't send file through its proxy.

1. Create Custom Login Links

It is very obvious that in order to access the WordPress admin panel, all one has to do is type in the url of the site with /wp-login.php. Now if you used a same password in more than one location, and it was jeopardized then it is easy for the hacker to hack your site. A plugin called Stealth Login allows you to create custom URLs for logging in, logging out, administration and registering for your WordPress blog. You can also enable “Stealth Mode” which will prevent users from being able to access ‘wp-login.php’ directly. You can then set your login url to something more cryptic. This won’t secure your website perfectly, but if someone does manage to crack your password, it can make it difficult for them to find where to actually login. This also prevents any bots that are used for malicious intents from accessing your wp-login.php file and attempting to break in.

2. Pick a Strong Password

This is a very obvious step, but we must mention it as it can’t be emphasized enough. Do not use the same password in other places. Try to make each password different and hard to guess. Use the WordPress Password Strength Detector to your advantage and make your password strong. Another thing you want to do is change your password periodically, so even if some has guessed your password, it is useless to them once you have changed it.

3. Limit Login Attempts

Sometimes the hacker might think they know your password, or they might develop a script to guess your password. In that case what you need to do is limit the login attempts. You can easily do so by using a plugin called Login Lockdown which will lock a user out if they entered the wrong password more than the specified time. They will be locked out for a specified time. You can control the settings via your wp-admin panel.

4. Use Secure SSL Login Pages

You can login to WordPress Admin Panel through the encrypted channels with SSL meaning your session URLs will have https://. You must confirm with your webhosts that you have Shared SSL, or you own a SSL certificate. Once you have confirmed paste the following code in your wp-config.php file:

define(’FORCE_SSL_ADMIN’, true);

There is also a plugin called Admin SSL that will force SSL on all pages. It is easier if you run this plugin, but it is only compatible with version 2.7 and above.

5. Password Protect WP-Admin Directory

There is nothing wrong with having two passwords. It just adds another level of security to your WordPress Admin Area. This can be done by using a plugin called AskApache Password Protect. It encrypts your password and creates the .htpasswd file, as well as setting the correct security-enhanced file permissions on both. You can also use cPanel Password Protection on a Directory if you are using a cPanel Web Host to password protect wp-admin directory.

6. Limit Access via IP Address

You can limit access to your WP-Admin Panel and only allow certain IP Addresses to access. All you have to do is create a .htaccess file in /wp-admin/ folder if there is not one there already. Paste the following code:

Change the IP Address and it will work. The downside to this hack is that if you ever want to access the admin panel from some other place, you won’t be able to do so unless you add that extra IP in your .htaccess file.

7. Never use “admin” Username

This is the first user that is created when WordPress is installed. You should never use or keep this user. Because in the past multiple loopholes have been found that are linked to Brute Force Attack and admin username, you should refrain from using it. You should create another user using your WordPress admin panel, and assign administrator roles to it. Try to make this username something that is not obvious, so it is harder for the hacker to guess. Then delete the admin user altogether to stay on the safe side.

8. Remove Error Message on the Login Page

When you enter a wrong password or an invalid username, you get an error message in the login page. So if a hacker gets one thing right, the error message will help them identify that. Therefore it is recommended if you remove that error message entirely. Open your functions.php located in your theme folder and paste the following code:

9. Use Encrypted Password to Login

When you don’t have SSL enabled, this method comes in handy. There is a plugin that lets you do this job, and it is called Semisecure Login Reimagined. Semisecure Login Reimagined increases the security of the login process using an RSA public key to encrypt the password on the client-side when a user logs in. The server then decrypts the encrypted password with the private key. JavaScript is required to enable encryption.

10. WordPress AntiVirus Protection

AntiVirus for WordPress is a smart and effective solution to protect your blog against exploits and spam injections. Special feature of this plugin is Manual testing with immediate result of the infected files, and Daily automatic check with email notification.

11. Stay Updated with the Latest WordPress Version

Last but definitely not the least is to stay updated with the latest version of WordPress because after each version is release, WordPress also releases the bugs and exploits of the previous version which puts your Admin Area in risk if you don’t upgrade.

As part of its 10th birthday salvo, Blogger has announced the availability of Blogger Jump Breaks, a Blogger feature which is equivalent of the "Read More" feature in some Blogger blogs around.

Via Blogger Buzz, here are the steps to enable Blogger Jump Breaks:

There are a couple of ways to insert a "Read more" jump to your posts. If you use the new post editor (available on Blogger in Draft, or by enabling it via the Settings tab), you'll notice the "Insert jump break" icon in the editor's toolbar. Click this icon and the "jump break" will be inserted into your blog post at your cursor's position.

If you don't use the new post editor, you can still insert a jump break in Edit HTML mode by adding  where you want to position the jump break.

Want to change the "Read more" text to something more your style? No problem. You can edit the "Read more" text by clicking Layout and then Edit the Blog Posts widget.

One more note, the Jump Break feature does not change how your post appears in your feed. You can configure post feed options by going to Settings | Basic | Site Feed, and editing Allow Blog Feeds.

How to Install Google Analytics on Blogger

Wouldn’t it be nice to know how many people actually visited your blog each day? How about knowing which of your posts are the most popular? Well surprisingly Blogger doesn’t currently offer any native blog analytics but fortunately there is Google Analytics — available for free.
Google Analytics is a great tool that will show you all sorts of useful information about how people found your blog, keywords they searched on to find you, where they came from and even how long they stayed. You’ll learn more about where your visitors come from and how they interact with your blog. This is a must tool if you are trying to build a profitable blog otherwise you are flying blind!
This article will show you how to add Google Analytics to your Blogger blog. It’s a fairly simple process and doesn’t require any technical skill at all.

Step #1 - Setup a Google Analytics Account

Go to Google Analytics and sign in using your Blogger login. If your account doesn’t work for some reason, you can create a new one instead. Once you login you’ll see a screen that looks like this:

Click on the “Sign Up >>” button and proceed to the next step which will ask you for your general information. Website URL, Account Name, Country, and Time Zone. The screen will look like this:

If you noticed, I just put my Blogger url (without the http://) and called it “David’s Account” because this is your top-level container for 1 or 100 different websites so it’s a good idea to name it something more general. The next step will ask you for your contact information which includes your first name, last name, phone number, and country. Easy so far right?

Your last step in signing up will ask you to accept the user agreement terms and conditions which you should read (just kidding…who actually ever reads these entire legal terms anyhow?).

Now this next screen is very important. This is the code you will need to copy and paste into your blogger template. Go ahead and click into the box and it will automatically highlight the entire block of code for you. Now you need to copy that code and paste it into notepad or into a MS Word document. Save it as you’ll need to use it later.

After you click on the “continue >>” button you will be taken to your brand new Google Analytics dashboard! You will see your blogger blog listed but with no analytical data….yet.

Ok, now you are done with setting up your Google Analytics account. The next step is placing the tracking code into your Blogger template so it can report back to Google Analytics and provide you with some cool data points.

Step #2 - Adding GA Tracking Code to Your Blogger Template

This is not a very difficult step even if you are afraid to touch your template code. Login to your Blogger account and then click on the “Layout” => “Edit HTML” tabs. This will bring you to the template code. Before you make any changes, I advice you to back up your template just in case there are any problems. After you’ve done so, continue reading.
Now in the edit template html code window, scroll all the way to the bottom of your template code and look for the </body> tag. There should only be one of these closing tags in your template. If you can’t find it then your template wasn’t properly created and you should add one right above the </html> tag.The </html> tag should always be your last line of code in your template. It signifies the end of your template.
Ok, now go back to the code you saved before in a Word Doc from Google Analytics. You are going to copy it and paste it right above the </body> tag as illustrated in the image below. The yellow highlighted code is the new GA code I just pasted into my template.

Save your template and you shouldn’t get any error messages. If you do, it’s most likely not related to this GA code and something else with your template itself. Assuming you’ve been successful with your save, you are all done embedding the GA code in your template!

Step #3 - Confirm Google Analytics is Tracking

Go back into your Google Analytics account and look at your dashboard. Most likely you will see a little yellow exclamation mark under the “status” column that looks like this: . This means everything isn’t working properly yet which is fine because we are about to tell GA we just added the code. From your dashboard, click on the “edit” link which is located to the far right.

After you click on that link, you’ll see another screen like below. It will say “Tracking Not Installed” followed by a link “Check Status”. You’ll want to go ahead and click on that link which will tell GA to visit your site and look for the new code you just pasted in your template.

Assuming you pasted the code in there as instructed above, GA will find the new code and begin tracking everything on your blog. If you are still having problems, it’s most likely something to do with GA and you should read their help guide to troubleshoot your problem.

The message seen here, “Waiting for Data” means you have correctly setup GA and data is being gathered! Click on the top left Google Analytics logo and it will take you back to your dashboard. From there click on the “View report” link and that’s where all your very important Blogger visitor data will start appearing!

Now it usually takes an hour or so before you will see any data (maybe longer if you don’t get much traffic to your blog) so please be patient. Trust me, you’ll be logging in at least once a day just to see how much traffic your blog is getting. It’s very addicting and powerful information to learn from. You’ll be surprised which posts are your most popular and what countries people are coming from to read your blog.
Google Analytics is very powerful and we have just learned how to install it into your Blogger template. We haven’t even scratched the surface on the features and reporting it can do. For most Bloggers, this will be enough. Data will be collected and you will just review it. Others with more in-depth goals (like selling products or services, creating a sales funnel, etc) will want to spend more time learning GA. Ever since the early episodes of Star Trek I’ve thought that people would love Captain Kirk’s communication: a pocket-sized device that, as well as supporting simple communication, would give instant access to vast amounts of information. It looks as though we’re getting closer to that ideal. PDAs and smart phones are often built on the same operating system. They both have considerable processing power and battery life and may use a variety of communication system. For example, the Nokia 9500 can communicate via Bluetooth, 802.11b, infrared and UBS as well as GSM, GPRS and Edge technology.

The Nokia 9500 also has enough processing power to handle encoded video. And now there are 3G mobiles that can support higher mobiles data rates and video reception good enough to watch TV.

However, progress is still required on two fonts – processing power and network bandwidth. Moore’s Law should deal with the first problem, but the second is not so straightforward. Present 3G network can provide rates up to about 384kbit/s over a wide area, but this isn’t really enough. However, help is on the way.

In the 3G world, High-speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) will support faster rates, perhaps up to 10bit/s, but at the cost of using a lot using a lot of the cell capacity of the mobile operators. The first system tests will take place next year. The benefit of HSDPA is that it can be added to the existing 3G infrastructure.

A different tack is being taken by the IEEE 802 committee, which has formed a group, called 802.20, to define a standard for high-speed mobile data that will able to support more users per square kilometer than existing system.

It looks as though the new system will rely heavily on adaptive antennas. Each base station will have an array of antennas, allowing it to form multiple radiobeams, one directed at each user. In addition, base station will work together so that several beams intersect at the user’s location, providing a personal sell of good signal that moves with them. Any mobile not in the personal cell will not interfere and so the system’s capacity will be increased.

Some of the techniques being talked about are already available commercially from ArrayComm with its iBrust product, which is being tested in several countries.

The 3G vendors are not ignoring these developments, since 3G system were and new applications to take advantage of the bandwidth.

However, those who dream about the transporter function of the Star Trek communicator will have to wait a good while yet.

How Add an image links to your documents

Before you start inserting images within your documents, you need to make sure it is available on the Internet, meaning that you can point the path to a valid address. Another good thing to know is the dimensions of the image. If you are not sure of the dimensions of the image you want to add, open the image with Visualizer Photo FX and look in the lower left corner of your screen. Here you will be able to see the width and height of the image. Let's try and setup an image within the document.

When using the img tag we are informing the browser that we want to add an image. The src attribute is the source that informs the browser where the image is located. As you can see I measured and added the width and height, so the correct dimensions (ratio) will be used when the image is displayed within the browser. As we have learned from the previous aritcles we need to close the tag when we are done, to inform the browser that we are done with the image.

The above example showed you the standard procedure to go about adding an image, but there are still attributes we can continue to add to our img tag. We can continue to add a border size, and we can add a hint when we mouse over the image. Worth mentioning about borders is that if we do not inform the browser about the border size, a 1 pixel border will automatically be added when we wrap a link around the image. We will learn more about adding links to an image later on in this article. First let us have a look at the border and hint attributes.

The alt attribute will let you add hints to your images. Hints can be very helpful when using icons that needs further explanation. Leave the alt attribute blank in case you do not want to add a hint to an image. In the example below I have left out the hint but still made sure to keep alt attribute within my img tag. I have also changed the border size to a width of 1 pixel.

When you change your blog colors, you can view your changes in the blog preview beneath the color panel. Make sure you save your changes after you have finished selecting the colors for your blog. If you're feeling adventurous you can click "Shuffle blog colors" to randomly shuffle all of the colors already in your blog. If you don't like your changes, you can revert back to your default colors by clicking "Revert to template default."

All about the Blogger 'Monetize' tab

The Monetize tab in Blogger makes it easy to enable AdSense ads on your blog. Once enabled, Blogger will retrieve your AdSense earnings data directly from AdSense so you do not need to go to AdSense to get basic earnings information.

AdSense Reports

Once you start generating AdSense impressions, you will begin earning money when people click on ads that show on your site.

The earnings report (visible when you click on the Monetize link from your Dashboard, or the Monetize tab when viewing your blog while logged into Blogger) includes a drop-down bar with Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, This Month, Last Month, and All time.

Selecting an option will retrieve the relevant report directly from AdSense.

All time

If you are already an AdSense user, you will notice that Blogger created a new channel (with the URL of your blog) in your account. If you have had AdSense ads on your blog before using Blogger’s AdSense integration to insert ads into your blog, it is important to note that All time will retrieve data only from the time you connected Blogger to your AdSense account.

This in no way affects your overall AdSense reporting, available directly from AdSense.

Terminology

The AdSense report visible from the Monetize tab contains basic information about how many ads have run on your blog, how many clicks were generated, and how much revenue you have earned. Each term in the report is defined below:

Page impression: A page impression is generated every time a user views a page displaying Google ads. We will count one page impression regardless of the number of ads displayed on that page. For example, if you have a page displaying three ad units and it is viewed twice, you will generate two page impressions and six ad unit impressions.

Clicks:# The number of times an ad was clicked on in the given reporting period.

Page CTR (Clickthrough Rate): The number of ad clicks divided by the number of impressions for the page of ads that appears when a link unit is clicked.

Page eCPM (Effective Cost Per Thousand Impressions): Calculated by dividing earnings by number of page impressions and multiplying. This makes it easier to compare multiple sites to see which are performing better.

Google strongly recommend that you do not use the AdSense for search box on your site to perform searches yourself. Besides increasing the risk of accidental clicks on your own ads, searching through AdSense for search will result in reports that don't properly reflect the traffic to your pages.

Google suggest that you use Google.com for your searches, or, if you're a Windows user running Internet Explorer or Firefox, Google recommend the Google Toolbar. My reports are showing clicks on my ads but no earnings. What's going on?

It could be that your account has some clicks or impressions which google monitoring system considers to be invalid. As you may know, in order to protect the interests of google publishers as well as those of google advertisers, Google monitors clicks on Google ads to prevent any abuse of the AdSense program. Google's proprietary technology analyzes all ad clicks for any invalid click activity that is intended to artificially drive up an advertiser's clicks or a publisher's earnings. Clicks deemed by google monitoring system to be invalid will appear in your reports.

However, since advertisers aren't charged for clicks deemed to be invalid, publishers don't receive any revenue for these clicks. For this reason, you may occasionally notice clicks with no associated revenue. Rest assured that your account is being properly credited for all clicks google consider to be valid.

Change background color of Blogger sidebar

A blogger commented that he could not find the sidebar color code in the template to change the background color of the sidebar. The CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) of every template is written different and if something is missing, all you need to do is to add the relevant missing part in.

For example, in the standard Blogger Scribe template, this is the section in the CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) for the sidebar:

BTW, instead of using hexadecimal color codes like #FFFFFF, you can also use most names of colors like red, blue, white, etc. If you want to blend the color to the colors of the site, try typing the search term "colorpic" or "iconico colorpic" into the search box above, tick ( ) Web radio button and search, and I am sure you would see the link as the first result in the SERP (search engine result page) to download a very useful tool I use to get the color code of colors on any website. (I don't want to put too many outbound links as I understand outbound links can lower your PageRank).

For about half year ago, Blogger.com have updated the comment style into comment-form as an option for the old one. While in 2009, many converter transform magazine style into XML Templates. I am showing in this post how to make a picture (an image, photo or screenshot) clickable, that is, become a hyperlink.

The basic HTML for the clickable picture (picture hyperlink) is:

To the ><img> tag, you can add more attributes separated by space, especially the alt="description" tag which will give some information of the picture and will server 2 purposes. Search engines cannot read images, but they can read what is written what is typed between the "" marks in the alt="" tag. This will help the search engines knows more about your post and helps in SEO (Search Engine Optimization). When for whatever reasons the picture cannot be displayed, instead of an empty box, the visitor will see what it typed between the "" marks in the alt="" tag.

Another attribute is the width="W" where W is the width of the image in pixel you want it to display. This is especially important when the image you uploaded is a wide picture which may exceed the width of the main column (if you include it in a post) or the width of the sidebar (if you put the image in the sidebar). You will then have to know what it the width of the main column or siderbar.

In the old classic Blogger, your Interests, Favorite Movies, Music and Books that you added to your profile was clickable. This means that other surfers/bloggers can use that to find blogs sharing the same interests. However, when Blogger Beta (now New Blogger) was introduced, these became unclickable words, thus useless.

Now according to Blogger Buzz Browse Profiles! Find new blogs to read!, as of 7 August 2007, these interests that you list in your profile are now active links, that means if you have put "blogging" as one of your interests, anyone viewing your profile can click on "blogging" and find other blogs whose interests are also blogging. This apply not only to your profile, but also other bloggers' profiles as well. This implies the more interests, favorite movies, music, books, that you add to your profile, the higher the chances that some other surfers/bloggers will find your blog. So put as many of them as you can into your profile. That is a very good way to try to bring more traffic to your blog.

If you do not know how to do that, sign into Blogger at blogger.com and you will end up in the Dashboard containing a list of blogs you have created. Remove 'pencil' and 'screwdriver and wrench (spanner)' quick editing icons permanently

We have received numerous complaints of bloggers seeing those "irritating" quick editing icons - the pencil quick edit icon for the posts, and the screwdriver and wrench (spanner) quick editing icon for the Page Elements (widgets). Personally they don't irritate me at all.

To me, these are really useful features, especially if you put a lot of HTML/Javascript Page Elements and you don't type a title for the Page Element (which is the norm). In the LAYOUT, they will all read "HTML/Javascript" and there is no way for you to tell which HTML/Javascript is for what unless you click on EDIT to look at what is inside. On the other hand, if you are logged in and you go the the blog, you will know exactly which Page Element you want to edit/delete and all you have to do is to click the icon and you will be editing/deleting the Page Element you want to edit/delete.

Permanently get rid of quick editing Pencil icon for posts

Sign into Blogger (Dashboard), click SETTINGS for the relevant blog and you will be in the SETTINGS > BASIC sub-tab by default. Just a bit down from the top of the page, you will see "Show Quick Editing on your Blog?". Click the down arrow and select "No" At the bottom, click "Save Settings". (Warning: There is a button "Delete this blog" very near that "Save Settings" button, and it is not uncommon to hear of bloggers who accidentally deleted their blog this way). Once you have done that, you will never see the quick editing Pencil icon again.

How to verify your store with Google Webmaster Tools

You must verify your store with Google Webmaster Tools so that you can prove that you own the site. Step 1. Register for an account with Google Webmaster Tools.

Go to Marketing> Search Engine Optimization> Meta Data & Google Integration.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page until you find the "Google Webmaster Tools- Site Verification" section.

Click on the Save Verification button. The meta tag has now been added to your store.

Step 3. Verify site in Google Webmaster Tools.

How to Claim Blogs on Technorati - 8 Step Tutorial

How to Get Banned from Google Adsense

With so many people ranting and screaming and crying that Google has disabled their adsense account, it’s really an interesting topic worthy to write about. You might be another one who just got the dreaded “invalid click” account closure email from Adsense team, and furious over it. Relax, mate. Not the end of the world, but it is definitely good to know the reason why you are banned. If you still have your account intact, read this, but as our Uncle Ferdy says: “Don’t try this at home.”

Keep in mind that these are HOW TO GET BANNED. In other words, this is a “DO NOT” list if you don’t want your adsense account to be disabled .

1. Ignore Adsense Program Policies & TOS
2. Click on your own ads, specially those you are “genuinely interested” in. Ask people to click on your ads: your friends, your family members, your relatives, your visitors, or even your dogs or your cats. Use proxies to avoid detection.
3. Participate in some form of click-ring. Click-rings are groups of people who gather with consensus to click each others’ ads. Most commonly used methods are Yahoo Groups, instant messenger, mail list, web forum, or specially written software.
4. Buy, write, or use click-bot software. Click-bot software will go around your site and click on your ads. Most of the times, these click-bots are using proxies to avoid detection.
5. Pay the Indian-clickers. These are the people whose main jobs are clicking on PPC advertisements and paid by the malicious publishers. Most of them are from developing countries like India or China.
6. “Invest” with websites that promises to deliver “adsense clicks” for your site. Whatever methods they are using, most likely it falls under one of the aboves.
7. Extra words to make your visitors to notice your ads. Write “Click here” or “Please support us” or “Visit our sponsors”. Anything other than Google-approved “sponsored links” or “advertisements”.
8. Put in as many ads as possible in every page. Put more than three units of the normal ads block, more than one unit of ads links, or more than one referral buttons for each adsense, adwords, and firefox; all in one page.
9. Use spyware to get traffics to your site. Spyware, adware, malware, or whatever it is called can force computer users to open your website everytime they start the computer. Or even better, use some kind of specially written software, toolbar, etc to display or click on your ads.
10. Use pop-ups on your website. Everytime your user open a page, pop-up another one, ideally with the smiley or the IQ Test advertisements.
11. Get as much un-targetted traffic as possible, for instance using the auto-surfing programmes to rotate the members around your site and other sites.
12. Put the adsense code in non-content pages: registration forms, term and condition, login page.
13. Have a competitor contextual ad on same page with adsense ads, for example Yahoo Publisher Network. Please note though that non-contextual ads, e.g. affiliate links or keyword-based ads are acceptable by google and won’t get you banned.
14. Get more than one adsense account. Maybe one for your dog-site, one for your cat-site, one for the v1agra pills, one for mp3 download, etc.
15. Put your adsense code in email the email, usenet, RSS, etc.
16. Tell everyone what is your CTR, your page impressions, etc. Telling people about your total earning, unfortunately, is allowed.
17. Put Google logo where you shouldn’t, and don’t put the logo where you should. In other word, ignore Google trademark.
18. Modify Adsense code as you see fit. Modify the layout, color, URL, will be well. Just anything other than copy-and-paste the code from Google.
19. And, this is important: if and when Google Adsense Team sends you email, ignore it.
20. Put adsense codes in the banned contents

* Excessive profanity
* Violence, racial intolerance, or advocate against any individual, group, or organization
* Hacking/cracking content
* Illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia
* Pornography, adult, or mature content
* Gambling or casino-related content
* Excessive advertising
* Any other content that promotes illegal activity or infringes on the legal rights of others
* Pop-ups, pop-unders or exit windows that interfere with site navigation, obscure Google ads, change user preferences, or are for downloads. Other types of pop-ups, pop-unders, or exit windows may be allowed, provided that they do not exceed a combined total of 5 per user session
* Excessive, repetitive, or irrelevant keywords in the content or code of web pages
* Deceptive or manipulative content or construction to improve your site’s search engine ranking, e.g., your site’s PageRank
* Incentives (monetary or point-based) to users or third-party beneficiaries for online activity including, but not limited to, clicking on ads or links, performing searches, surfing websites, reading emails, or completing surveys
* Sales or promotion of certain weapons, such as firearms, ammunition, balisongs, butterfly knives, and brass knuckles
* Sales or promotion of beer or hard alcohol
* Sales or promotion of tobacco or tobacco-related products
* Sales or promotion of prescription drugs
* Sales or promotion of products that are replicas or imitations of designer goods

What is constitutes invalid clicks? This is what google says:

Invalid clicks are clicks generated through prohibited methods. These prohibited methods include but are not limited to: repeated manual clicks, or the use of robots, automated clicking tools, or other deceptive software.

Please note that clicking on your own ads for any reason is prohibited, to avoid potential inflation of advertiser costs. All clicks must be generated as the result of a user clicking on the ads. We therefore require that Web pages do not include incentives of any kind for users to click on ads. This includes encouraging users to click on the ads or to visit the advertisers’ sites as well as labeling the ads with text other than “sponsored links” or “advertisements.”

Update (15 April 2006) : Someone suggested that having the word AdSense in domain name might get you banned as well. I contacted AdSense Team to clarify that. Domain name with “AdSense” will not get you banned, but the may just decide not to display ads for that specific domain. I have removed the AdSense blocks here out of good will, but still have it on my other websites.

How do I control access to my AdSense data in Analytics?

If you share your Analytics data with others, you can still keep your AdSense data private by creating a duplicate profile in Analytics. Follow the steps below to create a duplicate profile before integrating your AdSense and Analytics accounts.

First, create a new profile:

Click Analytics Settings at the top of your Analytics account
Select an account from the Accounts summary box.
Underneath the list of profiles for your account, click Add Website Profile
Select a radio button to add a profile for an existing domain.
From the Select Domain drop-down list, select the domain of the profile you'd like to duplicate, and enter the Profile Name as you would like it to appear in your account
Click Finish or Continue to add the new profile, or Cancel to exit without saving.

Then, enable or disable AdSense in the new profile. This way, you can have two profiles for a domain, one with AdSense data and one without, and share each with your account's users as you prefer.

Still thinking to cheat AdSense? Stop that. It will never bring you anywhere. You might pull it off with smaller ads network, but definitely not with Google. Here are some detection methods they might use. At the very least, they have the resources to do so.

IP Address
If the AdSense click is originated from the same IP Address as the one used for accessing your AdSense account, your account is flagged.

Cookies
Most home users do not use static IP Address for Internet connection. In most cases just disconnect and reconnect will give you a new IP Address. But don’t forget, Google has set cookies on your computer.

Other Google Services
Thinking that you are safe just because you do not access your AdSense account? Think again. This time, consider these: GMail, Google Earth, Google Calendar, Google Search, Google Toolbar, Google Talk, Google Sitemap, Google Desktop, Blogger, and so on, and so on. With the wide range of services they provide, Google can trace the originator of most (or probably almost all) clicks.

Your CTR may range from 0.5% to 10%, but if it exceeds a certain point (probably around 10%), you are flagged.

Geo-Location
Used Urchin (Google Analytics) before? Then you should know that Google can trace traffics origin down to the small town. Different IP doesn’t mean much. Unless you site is really targetted to one small geo-point, a high number of clicks from nearby location will get you banned quickly.

Hardware address?
MAC address of the LAN card, modem, and router works almost like a fingerprint. I’m not sure if Google can track this, but probably they do. They have rocket scientist, remember?

Advertisers conversion rate
Ad click is one thing. But does it bring value to the advertisers? If none of the clicks on your site translate to conversion to the advertiser, you are in trouble. First the Smart-Pricing hits, then your AdSense account disabled.

Search Engine Ranking
Your website is not indexed on any search engine, not linked by any prominent website, but get consistently high traffic? That sounds like something is in play. Regardless of whether it is an adware-embedded software, spam, trojan clickbot, or intentionally installed click-exchange network, it doesn’t sound right.

Webpage design
How about the “click here” or “support us”? Google has the best search engine in the world. Is it really that hard to find those words?

Combo
Each of these detection methods might seem rather weak. But combine them together, and not many click-fraud can pass-through these filters. Even the smartest clickbot will have a hard time.

In short, it is almost impossible to cheat AdSense in the long term. Instead of spending time, money, and effort trying to outsmart Google, try these tips to improve your AdSense earning.

Some of the best strategies you can use to drive users to your site and improve the visibility of your pages can be found within Google's webmaster tools. We've highlighted five ways you can take advantage of the tools below to improve the visibility of the content you've worked hard to create.

1. Submit all of your pages to the Google index - for free.

By using Google Webmaster Tools to submit your URLs, you help Google's web crawler do a more complete and efficient job of crawling your site. Webmaster tools enables you to submit all of your pages to the Google index, and it's particularly useful for making sure that we know about all dynamically generated URLs or pages that are not adequately linked to on your site. But please note: submitting a page to the index will not guarantee inclusion or influence your PageRank, and isn't a replacement for creating compelling and useful content.

2. Find out how Google sees your site.

Once you've made sure we have access to your site, you can see the common words used to link to your pages and that are seen by Google. This allows you to see trends in your site's content, and can help you determine why you may be ranking for particular keywords. You can also see which page has the highest PageRank by month. Some site owners are surprised to find that this isn't always the home page. If an internal page has the highest PageRank, you might consider spending more time optimizing the ads there.

3. Diagnose potential problems.

We let you know if, and why, we're having trouble accessing your site or specific pages. If we can't crawl a page, we can't index it -- so fixing any errors we list can help improve your overall coverage. If the AdSense Site Diagnostics tool shows that you're blocking pages from MediaPartners-Google (the AdSense crawler), you can use the robots.txt analysis tool of Google webmaster tools to test changes to that file and make sure those changes allow access. You can also see what pages you are blocking from other Google bots -- this lets you experiment with changes to see how they would affect the crawl of your site.

4. Find out which queries drive traffic to your site.

Using Google webmaster tools, learn which Google queries created clickthroughs to your site and where you were positioned in the search results for that query. You can also view data for individual properties and countries as well. For instance, you can see the queries from users searching Google Images in the United States that returned your site in the results. You'll only see properties and countries for which your site has data.

5. Get re-included.

If your site has disappeared from the search results, read through the Google quality guidelines, then correct any problems on your site and request re-inclusion from your Google webmaster tools account. Please keep in mind that the reinclusion request form is only available to people using Google webmaster tools.
